Five Friday Favourites
What a strange two weeks! Somehow we have endured another snap lockdown thanks to Covid. We got the news on Friday afternoon and people started panic buying because that's what people do despite when grocery stores are considered essential services and wouldn't be closing. We've since had to wear for the rest of week whenever we go out and will continue to until 12.00am next Saturday, which isn't too bad all things considered.
I have had 2 interviews this week both via Zoom, I'm not the biggest fan of Zoom interviews as I find I can't read body language that well and I never know how to make eye contact through the computer. I will say it was nice to only get dressed up from the waist up and not have to worry about driving to an unfamiliar place. The first interview I had was actually a group interview, me and group interviews aren't friends and this one being on Zoom was also awkward. It always going to be on Zoom regardless of the lockdown so I had a lot of anxiety regarding it, plus it being a group interview didn't help. It honestly didn't go well and it didn't help that halfway through the interview Maddy started meowing and throwing herself at the door as she wanted to be let out. The second interview was ok but I didn't get the role as (once again) someone had a bit more experience than me which always happens. Though to be honest the role wasn't exactly what I wanted and the hours weren't going to be consistent at all so I would've still needed to complete job seeker activities. I just have to keep reminding myself that God is in control of my job hunt and I will get the right position at the right time. I will say that thankfully for both of the interviews I was able to use my sister's room as she has a desk and she was out both times, so it meant I didn't need to wrangle a set up using my Cricut trolley, a tray and various books like previously.
It's been 19 months of dizziness and I have yet another referral. This time to a different neurologist who actually works out of the same office that the specialist physio I saw last February does. It's a bit of a full circle moment as I saw the physio at the start of my dizziness journey and I am back in the office seeing a different specialist this time. I have yet to book an appointment as I keep getting the answering machine but I am hopeful that on Monday I can get an appointment. Though to be honest I am expecting a bit of a wait as that is always the case with specialists especially ones that are super specialised. It's really just for a second opinion and to see if there's something that we're missing so I am not expecting a diagnosis. My google searches are coming up with very little at the moment except that I should get a lumbar puncher done which I really don't want to do. So hopefully if anything she can offer up some other avenues to explore.
Yesterday because I needed a change I ended up cutting off a lot of my hair. I went to my hairdresserand asked her to do her magic as I needed something different. It's now layered and sits above my shoulders, it's also a lot lighter which is nice.
This weekend I am catching up with some friends for breakfast tomorrow which will be nice, we were meant to catch up last weekend for breakfast and to book flights for Hamilton but then lockdown happened. Though we did book flights separately but together thanks to Facebook Messenger, so now we just need to find things to do and work out a rough itinerary and we are sorted.
Onto Friday Favourites
Birthday Cake Oreos - these were an impulse buy the other week but they are seriously good. They aren't super sweet and they have sprinkles in them. They taste like normal oreos but with extra vanilla and you can't go wrong with them
Swisse Ultiboost Daily Immune Support - I started taking these midway through last year and I haven't stopped taking it. I haven't been sick nearly as much in previous years and the one cold I had (which coincided with me running out of these) didn't last nearly as long and wasn't as intense. Being chronically dizzy the last thing I need is to get sick. Also at the sign of a cold just double the dose and it should help fight it. I've been fortunate enough to get it half price ($10 instead of $20) whenever I have needed it, which is worth it for me as a bottle lasts two months and its a tablet a day (or two tablets at the sign of a cold).
The New York Times - I decided to sign up to The New York Times this week and at a $1 a week for the first year it's really budget friendly. I love reading all the fun articles like Modern Love, Tiny Love Stories and the Diagnosis column (which I read secretly hoping I will find something that can diagnose me). Plus there's subscriber exclusive content like How Australian Theatre Gives Broadway Hope video special which is really good and gives a behind scenes into the theatre scene here in Australia.
Paint and Flow paint by numbers - I was lucky enough to receive a paint by numbers to promote on behalf of ReachOut as $1 from each kit gets donated to ReachOut. I love painting but I haven't done it in a long time as other crafts have taken over. So it was nice to have a kit with everything in it for some selfcare. The quality is amazing from the canvas to the paints and brushes, I can't fault it. I started it during last weekends lockdown and while I have only done 3 colours I'm looking forward to doing some more this weekend. I got this picture and it transport me away to some far place maybe in Greece or another coastal town. I highly recommend buying one for you or maybe mum for Mothers Day.
Coconut Cookies - I made these on Wednesday and they are so good. I added an extra teaspoon of vanilla essence and increased the coconut by half a cup as I wanted a thicker cookie and they turned out perfectly. They are chewy buttery cookie and the coconut adds a nice element to them, the recipe makes so many (I think I made 45 cookies) which means they are perfect for giving away. I ended up bagging up quite a few and everyone I have given them too has said they are amazing which I have to agree with.
